Location

Plaza Dort Rooms is at number 13 on Plaza del Ángel, in the Barrio de las Letras, part of Madrid's Centro district. It is a lively area of bars, theatres and restaurants: Calle Huertas leads off the square itself, Plaza de Santa Ana is about 200 metres away and Puerta del Sol about 300.

Getting there

From Barajas airport, about 11 kilometres away, metro line 8 runs to Nuevos Ministerios, where you change to Cercanías line C-3 or C-4 for Sol; the whole trip takes 30 to 40 minutes. Cercanías line C-1 leaves from T4, but since December 2024 it terminates at Chamartín, where you can pick up metro line 1 to Sol or Tirso de Molina. The Airport Express bus runs around the clock, to Atocha by day and Cibeles at night, and taxis charge a fixed fare to the centre.

From Atocha station, 1.2 kilometres away, you can walk or take metro line 1 to Antón Martín, Tirso de Molina or Sol. Drivers should know that the guest house has no parking and the centre is a Low Emission Zone. Until spring 2027 nearby Plaza de Jacinto Benavente is being redeveloped: its car park is closed and several EMT bus lines are diverted.

What to see

Plaza de Santa Ana is home to the Teatro Español and statues of Calderón and Lorca; close by are Lope de Vega's house museum and the Trinitarias convent, where Cervantes is buried. Plaza Mayor is about 400 metres away and the Royal Palace less than a kilometre.

To the east, the Paseo del Arte brings together the Thyssen, the Prado and the Reina Sofía, which closes on Tuesdays, and Retiro Park lies a kilometre and a half away. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for exploring the city on foot.
